Mid-autumn Day in SCAU

Today is mid-autumn day; however, it’s raining now, so I think the moon won’t come out tonight. No matter could see the really moon or not, it must a very important day in China. This year, I prefer to stay here, in my university, with classmates spending the special night. It’s the first time I shared such moment with them and it maybe the last time I have this chance for I’m senior now, next year we will leave in our own directions – continue study as postgraduates, hard working in new jobs, work for government, go to aboard and so on. Once we are lucky man that we meet each other among thousands of millions of billions of people. The day before, I don’t know why I choose stay here instead of going home, but now I finally understand friendship of schoolmates is the most important theme for now.

As custom, we eat mooncake today, of course including a lot of other food, such as different kinds of fruit and snack (for example: chestnut). There are many different style mooncake you could choose, for instant, with one salt yolk, with two, or even three or four. Yolk in mooncake represent the moon, the yolk of yolk is round and yellow, so the moon is. Besides there’s also lotus seed paste, red been paste, nuts, ham or many others stuffing in Chinese mooncake.

All the celebrations are for one goal that families could come together just likes the full moon. The moon is round in mid-autumn day, and hope all the people around the country would have family reunion.

Other than eating, children will play lantern tonight. The structure of traditional lantern is very simple, including a paper cover and a candle in the middle. They carry the colorful lanterns here and there; lighten their happy faces and the road of people who are going home. As the science development, traditional candle lantern has changed into electric one and it’s safer. Yet in my heart, the mid-autumn day’s lantern just belongs to the original candle face.

I have many thoughts today, and even haven’t expressed this in Chinese. Maybe we should use another way to feel the great traditional culture around us.
